Being creative....

I have been following Donna Downeys blog for quite some time now and every Wednesdays I am inspired by her 'Inspirational Wednesdays'.... I wanted to make something for our awesome hosts for the visit to Slovenia last weekend, browsed through Donna's blog and came up with these. Played with gesso, alcohol inks, glimmer mist, glue, paint, wire and water.... it was so much fun. Oh and I added some punched butterflies after I took the pictures... nice little touch (click for bigger views). I like the results and I hope Jacqueline and Martin will too!

Scrapped again.... my mojo is certainly not back, but at least I did some pages with more then 1 picture (which are easier imo)...

This one is about a camp Tessa went to last year, where she learned a lot.

No words needed.... they love each other so much, something parents only can wish for!

When the weather is good, we like to take a walk at the lake near Reeuwijk. This was last autumn.

Week 33, 34 & 35

Really have to get my weekly pictures going or I will regret it! In week 33 we invited neighbours over for Tapas.... spent quite some time in the kitchen, but it was a good meal!

I have these silly kids... temps are well above 20C and what do they want to do? Baking cookies. Remco was at daycare, so I loved spending time with Tessa and Sander.

Week 34 was about 'Vacation-game-week' (doesn't translate very well)... On the final day they had a big parade where each group had chosen a theme... Tessa's was Chinese people and Sander's was Aliens.

The week ended with a lampion parade after the big final show in town. DH walked with Sanders group and I waited to join Tessa's group.

We had a good afternoon with our dear friends Wim and Liesbeth. Long talks and some sunbading were part of it. The weather was good enough to have a small cook out!

And then week 35 was the start of a new school year....

Diner with an old friend/collegue... gee, really hope it won't take us as long to meet again. Diner was so so, but catching up with tears and laughters made it all good.

Wahooooo... Sander's first soccer game.... he was SO excited.

LOAD - page 2-5

I don't have my mojo back, but I did complete a couple of pages over the weekend. The pages all are scraplifted from or even copied from other pages... Sorry for not giving credits, not sure where they came from, not from people that read my blog though.

This one has pictures of a little tradition we have before Christmas and Sinterklaas at a local pet farm. They cookies, suger glaze and candy and the kids will enjoy the proces of decorating the cookies and of course eating them afterwards

Not a page, but I include it anyway. This tagbook is made for the BPS class of Cathy Zielski 'Me, the Abridged version'. As always I am behind in this course, but I think this class is really good for me personally right now, so I am making every effort to really finish it. It's all about things that are important to me and/or that define the person I am... from persons I love, to things or places that mean something to me. Going from this tagbook a scrapbook will be made with a couple of entries for each letter of the alphabeth.

Week 2 brachten we door op een camping vlakbij Haro, wijnhoofdstad van Rioja.

We spent week 2 of our vacation at Hara, wine capital of Rioja...

I managed to run 4 times a week during our stay in Spain.... if I only knew then what I know now (having shin splint, probably because of the hills) I wouldn't be so happy and proud!

LOAD - page 1

Op OSU is weer een LOAD challenge voor september gestart. Omdat de maand al begonnen is, hoeven we voor deze 'LayOut A Day' nog maar 21 pagina's te maken. Geen idee of dit gaat lukken, eigenlijk weet ik al zeker dat het niet gaat lukken, maar elke pagina die ik maak, is er eentje meer dan ik de afgelopen 2 maanden heb gemaakt, dus alles is meegenomen. De eerste pagina die ik af heb was in het kader van de Telephone Scraplift op datzelfde OSU-forum, die kan ik dus nog niet laten zien, daarom een sneak preview....

At OSU we have again a LOAD challenge for September. For this LayOut A Day we only need to finish 21 pages, because the month already has started. No idea if I will manage to finish that many, actually... I kind of know for sure that I won't get it done, but every page I make is one more then I made in the last 2 months, so it's a win-win situation. The first page I finished is made for the Telephone Scraplift at OSU, so I can't show it completely, hence the preview....

Week 30

Week 30 was onze eerste vakantie week in Noord Spanje. We hebben 3 weken doorgebracht in het Spaanse deel van het Baskenland. De camping van deze eerste week was in Itziar, een klein plaatsje tussen San Sebastian en Bilbao. Het is natuurlijk geen doen om uit de 500 foto's er 9 uit tezoeken, 3 voor elke week, dus hier maar een paar plaatjes van deze eerste week.

Week 30 was the first week of our vacation in Northern Spain. We spent 3 weeks in the Spanish part of the Basque Country. First camping was in Itziar, a small village between San Sebastian and Bilbao. Of course it's impossible to pick only 9 out of 500 pictures (3 for each week), so I just picked a couple that are kind of representable for this week.

We hebben veel gelezen en ook veel heerlijke Spaanse wijn gedronken....

We read a lot and drank a lot of the terrific Spanisch wines....

Elke dag gingen we wel op pad en zo kwamen we op leuke plekken, zoals Bilbao met het Guggenheim museum.

We visited quite a lot of interesting places... Guggenheim museum in Bilbao was one of them.

Foto's week 29

Ik loop schandelijk achter.... verklaarbaar zo met vakanties en andere aandacht-vragende zaken, maar als ik niet snel wat bijwerk, blijven deze weken angstig leeg en dat vind ik ook jammer. In week 29 startte we met een buurt bbq, altijd goed voor veel drank eeeeeeh... veel gezelligheid bedoel ik natuurlijk ;-)

I am way behind with updating my blog... understandable with the vacation and other attention consuming bussiness, but if I don't update soon enough... these weeks will stay unblogged, and I don't like that either. Week 29 started off with our yearly block bbq party, always good for a lot of boose.... eeehmm... a lot of fun is what I meant of course ;-)

Tessa had haar tweede scouting kamp. Jammer dat ze niet bij de bbq kon zijn, maar ze heeft van het weekend genoten (en wij waren weer blij dat we haar na 2 nachtjes weer lekker op konden halen!).

Tessa was away for camp with the scouts. Too bad she couldn't be there for the bbq, but sha had a blast at the camp (and we were happy to take her home after 2 days!).

Sinds een tijdje kan ik weer redelijk hardlopen... de Dam tot Dam (10 EM) is na de vakantie al heel snel en de opbouw gaat goed. Het rent heerlijk bij ons in de 'achtertuin'.

Running gets better and better these last weeks.... the Dam to Dam (10 EM) will be near when we come back from our vacation and my coming back feels good. Running in our 'back yard' is great!

Pictures of week 27 & 28

Zonder veel omhaal, laat ik hierbij de foto's van week 27 en 28 zien...

Without too much further ado I will present you the pictures of week 28 and 29...

Hier wil ik nog over bloggen... met een aantal collega's zouden we gaan wadlopen... van Lauwersoog naar Schiermonnikoog. Helaas redde 1 van de collega's het niet en moesten we terug. In september gaan we waarschijnlijk een nieuwe poging wagen. Dit was al een onvergetelijke ervaring.

I want to blog this experience.... with a couple of collegues we planned to do a mudflat hike in the north of The Netherlands (Schiermonnikoog). Unfortunately one of the collegues couldn't go any further after 1 hour and as a group we had to go back. We probably will do another attempt in September. This experience already was unforgettable!

Met vrienden naar Sensation White... een geweldige ervaring!

With friends we went to Sensation White.... the experience was incredible!

De zomer is in het land.... lekker een stuk fietsen en bij theehuisje 'Het Woudje' even wat drinken en spelen.

The summer arrived.... bike a bit and have a drink and play at a little Thee Garden.

Het schooljaar is alweer bijna afgelopen en de rapporten kunnen opgehaald worden. Afscheid nemen van de juffen... het was een geweldig jaar!

School is almost out and we can pick up the report cards. Saying goodbye to the teachers.... it was a great year!

Met mijn vriendinnetjes (Maaike maakt de foto!) naar het Archeon.... zoals altijd een warm bad.... zou niet weten wat ik zonder hen zou moeten!

En terwijl ik mij vermaakte in het Archeon was Paul en later ook heel wat buurtgenoten bezig de schutting op te zetten (die overigens door iemand geplaatst zou worden, die het handig vond de dag ervoor af te zeggen en als je nu denkt... waarom ga JIJ dan weg..... ik wilde niet maar werd toch resoluut weggestuurd... ik kreeg bijna het idee dat ze het liever zonder mij deden?!?)

And while I was having fun with my friends, Paul and later a lot more of our neighbours were busy putting up a fence ( a fence which btw would have been put up by a professional who thought it was nice to cancel the work the day before... and if you think, why are YOU going away .... I planned to stay and help, but they sent me away... I almost got the idea that they liked it better without me!?!?).

week 26 in foto's

Ik heb aardbeien in de tuin.... een stuk of 10 plantjes... en ik denk dat ik inmiddels toch ook wel een stuk of 10 aardbeitjes uit eigen tuin heb mogen eten (kan er eentje meer of minder zijn ;-P) ..... Jammer dat het er niet meer zijn, want ze zijn heerlijk! Overigens kom ik ruimschoots aan mijn aardbeien tax... Er gaan gemiddeld toch 1 a 2 kilo per week doorheen, waarvan 90% in mijn mond verdwijnt!

I grow strawberries in my garden.... about 10 plants... and I think that I meanwhile have eaten the enormous amount of about 10 strawberries (maybe 1 more or less ;-P) from these plants... Too bad there were not more (yet), they are delicious! By the way... don't worry about me getting my strawberries... they are so cheap right now, we have 1 or 2 kilo's each week and most of that is going in MY mouth!

Wim en Liesbeth waren in de buurt en zo was het plan voor een picknick bij de Zeegersloot snel geboren. Het was heerlijk... zowel het eten, als het weer als het gezelschap. Jammer dat ze nu zover weg wonen, dit soort dingen moeten we maar vaak blijven doen!

Wim and Liesbeth were in the neighbourhood, so the plans for a picknick were made quickly. It was lovely.... both the food, the weather and the company. I hate it that they live so far away now, we should plan these kind of visits more often!

Een heerlijk dagje doorgebracht in pretpark Oud Valkeveen. Juist voor de leeftijdsgroep van onze kinderen een geweldig leuk park. Remco blijft gek van treinen en dit kleine boemeltje gaat hem precies hard genoeg.

We spent the day in a nice fun park.... this one is just right for the ages of our kids. Remco is still crazy about trains and this little one is perfect for him, because it doesn't go too fast!

Week 24 en 25

We gaan het maar even anders doen.... foto's van 2 weken, maar ik kon met goed fatsoen geen keuze maken welke foto's ik moest kiezen... dus dan maar wat meer foto's en dan kijk ik wel wat ik doe met mijn album (waar plek is voor 3 foto's per week).

Let's do it a bit different ... pictures of 2 weeks. For some activities I couldn't choose which picture to use, so I added more and I will see what I will do with my album (with 3 spots for each week).

Dit was zo grappig en heb ik ook getwitterd (check hier als je me wilt volgen!)... Sander had een Stratego gespeeld met Paul en daarna wilde Remco ook wel. Eerst worden alle poppetjes op het randje gezet, terwijl Paul hem duidelijk probeert te maken dat ze elk in een vakje moeten. Als Paul alles heeft klaargezet, schuift Remco zijn leger resoluut bij elkaar en vraagt 'mag ik rood zijn?'.... lekker ding...

This was so funny and I twittered about it too (if you want to follow me, check this link!)... Sander played Strategy with Paul and when they were finished Remco wanted to play too. At first all pieces are lined up at the side of the board, while Paul tries to explain that they all need in a square on the board. When Paul is ready with his army, Remco shoves together all pieces and asks 'can I be red?'.... isn't he cute?

Sinds ik met mijn dinnetjes een weekend weg ben geweest (zie hier, maar vooral hier) heb ik nauwelijks gescrapt en dat wil echt wat zeggen... maar toen had ik nog wat 'verplichtingen' (don't ask) en met een soort van verplichte set aan materialen moest ik aan de slag. Toevallig paste de foto's van een eerder vriendinnetjes-dagje (met aanhang) perfect bij het papier.... en zo rolde deze pagina eruit. Ik was er best blij mee en blijkbaar vinden er meer hem leuk want in de wedstrijd op mijn scrappers forum, staat ie nu in de tie breaker poll.

Since my weekend away with my dear friends (check here, but especially here) I didn't scrap a single page... and that's really rare. But then I had some 'obligations' (don't ask) and with a certain set of items I had to make something. Totally concidental I choose some pictures from an earlier date with the very same friends (and som DH's and kids), because they fitted perfectly... and so this page emerged. I was quite happy with it and apparently others think so too, 'cause in the poll at my scrapping MB, he is now in a new tie breaker poll/

En kijk hier nu, mijn kleine nichtje, het kanjertje.... die wordt gewoon alweer 1 jaar... gefeliciteerd Rinske!

And look here, my little niece, the trooper.... already turned one ... happy birthday Rinske!

En toen volgde schoolreisje nummer twee.... met Tessa deze keer en we gingen naar Drievliet. Tessa moet even slikken als ze van Thomas een arm krijgt...

And then we had another fieldtrip, with Tessa this time .... we went to Drievliet. Oh mom, look.... Thomas is WAY too close ... snicker....

Oke, oke... ik zal normaal doen ;-)

De Jungle River was wel heel gaaf!

En dan was dit ook het eerste schoolreisje dat ze zakgeld mee mochten nemen..... dat valt nog niet mee om dan te bepalen waar je die 2 euro aan uit zult geven. Mijlpaal!!! (en nee, ik heb me er NIET mee bemoeid ;-))

This was the first fieldtrip where they were allowed to bring a little pocket money... it's not easy to decide on what to spend that 2 euro's. Milestone!!! (and no, I didn't interfere with her decision ;-))

Na een diploma A duurt het meestal niet lang voor je op mag voor B... we hoopten met nog 2 perioden voor de boeg (= 8 lessen) dan ook dat het voor de grote vakantie zou lukken. Stralend kwam hij na 2 lessen al met het papiertje achter zijn rug naar buiten .... 'mama, je kan het niet geloven, maar ik zou het maar wel geloven!'. En zo togen we voor de tweede keer binnen een maand naar het veel te hete zwembad... hier ons gespierde spijkertje ;-)

After the first diploma for swimming, it normally doesn't take too long to have the second one.... we hoped to have it before summer vacation (= 8 lessons). After the second lesson he came to me with the biggest smile and the slip behind his back... 'mom, you won't believe it, but you better believe it!'. And so we went to the over heated swimming pool for the second time in one month.... here is our champion:

Terwijl je onder een poortje door zwemt, neem je gewoon toch even een pionnetje mee wat daar nog verdwaald ligt!

While you are swimming down deep, why not bring up a 'lost' item.

Hij is er al lang voor aan het sparen.... een Nintendo DS. Bijna alle kinderen in de straat hebben hem al, maar wij vinden het geen 'zomaar tussendoor kado'... Bij alle grotere dingen waar ze voor sparen leggen wij de helft bij en zo kwam het dat hij rond deze tijd bijna aan de 70 euro zat en het zo ineens een heel leuk kado was voor het behalen van zijn diploma. Groot was zijn verbazing EN blijdschap toen hij doorhad dat dit geen nepkado was (voor zijn verjaardag kreeg hij van de buurt geld in een ninendo doosje) maar een echte!

He was saving for it quite some time now.... a Nintendo DS game console. Almost all kids in our neighbourhood have one, but we don't think this is a 'just in between present'.... With bigger wishes where they save for themselves, we will add half of the money and so this was the time where he had saved almost 70 euro's (they are more expensive here!) and we bought one as a reward for getting his diplima. He couldn't believe his eyes when he opened the package and realised that this was no fake present (one of his birthday presents from the neighbours was a nintendo box with some money in it), but the real stuff!

En dan de laatste set, hij is vast heeeeeeel blij met deze foto's zo op het web ;-), maar het is maar 1 keer per jaar vaderdag en zo werd hij 's ochtends op bed verrast met allemaal knutsels van de kinderen...

And finally the last set of pictures, he is probably veeeeeeeery happy with these pictures on the web ;-), but hey.... there is only 1 fathers day in the year and this is how he was surprised with home made stuff from the kids...

Week 23 in beeld....

En laten we dan maar meteen nog een week erachter aan zetten (hierna nog 2 weken in te halen... had ik al gezegd dat ik het druk heb en ZO ontzettend veel zin in vakantie heb?!? ;-P)

Okay, here's yet another week (after this I still am 2 weeks behind.... did I mention that I am SO ready for my vacation?!? ;-P).

Gewoon maar een paar korte opmerkingen dan.... direct na Pinksteren had Sander een schoolreisje naar het Archeon.... het was geweldig mooi weer en ondanks dat de meeste kinderen er al een paar geweest waren, hebben ze toch genoten. Hier op de foto maken vervilten ze wol tot een armbandje.

Just some quick notes,... after the weekend Sander had a school field trip, which I chapperoned. We went to a theme park with buildings and activities from ancient times. A lot of the kids already went there a couple of times (it's in our 'backyard') but it still was fun. On this picture they are felting some wool into bracelet.

Op zaterdag was dan eindelijk het partijtje van Sander..... 2 maanden na dato.... tis toch wat. Het was erg leuk... zolang de kinderen de 'partijtjes-thuis' nog leuk vinden, blijven we dat mooi doen... Hier een waterrace...

On Saturday we finally had the birthday party for Sanders school friends..... 2 months after date... sigh... It was fun.... as long as the kids still like the 'parties-at-home', we continue in doing so... This was a fun water race....

Direct na het partijtje van Sander vertrekken we richting het oosten van het land.... Wim en Liesbeth vieren hun verjaardagen zondag en wij gaan lekker een dagje eerder al. Ze hebben een jeu de boule toernooitje georganiseerd, Tessa deed het erg goed!

After Sanders birthday party we left for a weekend away at Wim and Liesbeth's. They are celebrating their birthday on Sunday we came a day early. They had a jeu de boule tournament....  Tessa was quite good!

Foto's week 22

Nou nou, het wil maar niet echt lukken met weer in de groove komen... pfewww... nog 3 weken dan hebben de kids vakantie en een weekje later vertrekken we voor 3 hele weken naar Spanje.... Daar hebben we ZO ONTZETTEND VEEL ZIN IN!!!! .... hier de foto's van week 22:

Oh boy, I don't get back in the routing of blogging... pfeww... only 3 more weeks of school and then one week later we leave for 3 full weeks of Spain.... we are SO LOOKING FORWARD to that.... here are the pictures of week 22:

Maandag 25 mei trakteert Remco op de creche... leuke cupcakes (en lekker ook nog, zo hoorde ik).... Kijk nou toch wat een lekker ding ;-P

On Monday May 25th Remco celebrates his birthday... he had good looking (and tasting, as I have heard) cupcakes.... Oh my goodness... look at the cutiepie ;-P

Het zong al weken rond in huis..... zowel Tessa als Sander deden met hun klas mee met de presentatieavond.... Fontein's got talent (Fontein=naam van de school), was het thema. Heel wat getalenteerde kinderen voorbij zien komen, maar vooral genoten van de inzet en het enthousiasme...

It was buzzing around for weeks already... both Tessa as Sander had a part in the presentation evening of their class at school..... The theme was Fontein's got Talent (Fontein= name of the school), was theme. We saw quite some talented kids, but especially enjoyed the enthusiasme and involvement of the kids....

En met Pinksteren zijn we met 4 gezinnen gaan kamperen.... het weer werkte mee, het was super gezellig, goede gesprekken en veel drank (oeps).... voor herhaling vatbaar. Toevals shot van deze 3 rakkers.... ik denk dat dit 1 van de weinige momenten was dat ze stil zaten!

During Pentecost weekend we went camping with 4 families.... the weather was great, the company was awesome, great talks and a lot of alcohol (oeps)... definitely something we are going to repeat. A lucky shot of the youngest 3 of the party.... I think this was the only moment they were not runnign around like crazy.
